PTSD Support for Veterans in Central Texas: Science-Backed Hypnotherapy That Works

You carried the weight. You do not have to carry it alone.

If you are a veteran in Central Texas, you already know the numbers. You have seen the statistics at Fort Hood, at the VA in Temple, and in the communities around Killeen and Waco. PTSD is not a sign of weakness. It is a biological injury to the nervous system, and like any injury, it responds to the right support.

At Heal with Hollie, we do not ask you to relive your trauma in detail for months on end. We use clinical hypnotherapy to help your brain process and reconsolidate traumatic memories safely, often faster than traditional talk therapy alone.

Why Hypnotherapy for PTSD Support? The Research Is Clear

Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. It is an evidence-based clinical supportive tool recognized by the VA and supported by peer-reviewed research. Here is what the science actually says.

Meta-analyses confirm large effect sizes

A systematic review and meta-analysis published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis found that hypnotherapy for PTSD produced a large effect size at post-test, and the results actually grew stronger at follow-up. In plain English: the benefits stick, and they often deepen over time.

Hypnosis outperformed prescription sleep medication in combat veterans

In a randomized controlled trial with 32 chronic combat-related PTSD patients, researchers compared add-on hypnotherapy against zolpidem (Ambien). The hypnotherapy group reported a 76.4% improvement in sleep ability, compared to only 26.6% in the medication group. Hypnosis significantly improved total sleep time, sleep quality, and the number of nighttime awakenings.

If you are tired of being handed pills and still waking up at 0200, this matters.

Even a single targeted session can move the needle

Back-to-back studies by Barabasz and colleagues evaluated single-session abreactive ego state therapy with active-duty personnel and combat veterans. Using the Davidson Trauma Scale, they found durable improvements in trauma resolution, depression, and anxiety that held up at 1-month and 3-month follow-ups.

You do not need to sign up for a year of weekly appointments to see if this works.

The VA itself reports positive outcomes

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Whole Health program includes clinical hypnosis in its clinician toolkit and has documented case studies of combat veterans overcoming PTSD symptoms through alert hypnosis. When the VA puts a modality in its official resources, it signals real institutional confidence.

Local Care for a Local Need

Texas is home to over 1.5 million veterans, the largest population in the nation. Communities adjacent to military bases, including right here in Bell County and Coryell County, carry the highest concentrations of PTSD in the state. If you live near Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos, Killeen, Harker Heights, or Belton, you do not need to drive to Austin or wait months for a VA referral to get help.

My office is located in Temple, TX, inside a professional therapy building that receives referrals from other clinicians who trust this work. I am local. I am private-pay and HIPAA-conscious. That means no red tape, no notes in a government file, and no risk that your command or employer gets wind of your treatment unless you choose to tell them.

What This Looks Like in Practice

I specialize in a personalized structured hypnotherapy process designed to reconsolidate traumatic memories without forcing you to narrate them in detail. Many veterans find that the combination of clinical hypnosis and subconscious reprogramming helps with:

  • Intrusive memories and flashbacks
  • Hypervigilance and startle response
  • Sleep disruption and nightmares
  • Emotional numbness and detachment
  • Anger, shame, and survivor guilt

Sessions are held in a calm, private office environment or through Zoom online. You remain in control at all times. Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. It is a collaborative process where you learn to access the same focused state your brain already uses to perform under pressure.

You Gave Everything. It Is Time to Get Something Back.

You do not need to have a formal PTSD diagnosis to benefit from this work. Maybe you just know you are not sleeping. Maybe your spouse says you have changed. Maybe the civilian world feels like a foreign country, and you cannot explain why. That is enough.

I work with veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and high-performers who need their nervous systems to finally stand down. If you are ready to see whether one session can give you relief, let us talk.
